Visualizing Access to Abortion

I made this map using ANSIRH data in the wake of the 2022 Dobbs decision. I was taking an introductory GIS analysis course at the time, and this poster was my final project. 

 

While maps had been circulating and displaying the new abortion laws across each state, there were fewer visualizations that showed a more granular look at which areas would be impacted the most. 

 

To explore this issue, I used geospatial analysis to answer the questions: in what census blocks has abortion become the least accessible in the Southwest and Southeastern US? What are the demographics of the people who reside in these areas?
